FIP-3 Governance ambassadors

Summary:

Propose FIP-3 for the minimum 5 day discussion prior to being submitted for snapshot to vote. FIP-3 would authorize, if passed, a trial of electing 5x Governance Ambassadors for a term of 3 months and that elected ambassadors be granted an inaugural Governance Ambassador NFT and 150 FXS vested for 1 year.

Background:

Having permanent incentives for community representatives to be recognized and elected by the community to focus on protocol improvements and governance is needed for a flourishing ideation of Frax Finance.

Abstract:

It is proposed to run a trial for electing 5x governance ambassadors (this might most easily be done through scattershot) who’s role is to listen, think, advocate and propose protocol improvements. Each governor will be designated a role on the snapshot, the forum, telegram and discord - they will also be provided an inaugural Governance Ambassador NFT and 150 FXS vested for 1 year.

Nominations will be made through a discord channel and will be open for a period of 2 weeks. Each nominee will be eligible to be elected - the 5 candidates with the highest percentage vote will be elected.

Governors will have a channel on discord which can be managed at their discretion.

The term of the trial will be for 3 months - with an review allowing for further continuation of the program by a further FIP.

Motivation:

There is currently no incentive for community members to come forward and think about protocol development, governance and ideation. This proposal will create confidence in elected ambassadors that they have community support and a financial and status incentive to pursue their brief through the FXS reward and the NFT.

For: Authorize a trial of electing 5x Governance Ambassadors for a term of 3 months and that elected ambassadors be granted an inaugural Governance Ambassador NFT and 150 FXS vested for 1 year.

Against: Do not authorize Governance Ambassadors trial at this time.

I’m for this! I think ambassadors would be a good voice for the community, and would help keep the protocol moving in the right direction.
